Venosa, splendida civitas and country of artists and poets, was one of the most flourishing centres in the Roman period and in the Middle Ages. The Romans, the Longobards, the Normans and the Swabians left traces of their dominations realising an unique cultural and architectural heritage. Visiting Venosa means travelling over millennia of history and admiring the landscape, spotted by ancient hamlets, springs, rural churches and hills covered by vineyards. This landscape and its wines represented the inspiring muse for the poet Luigi Tansillo and mainly for the "poeta maximum" Quinto Orazio Flacco, who realised that depth bond between culture wine and landscape that we are determined to carry on .
